Chief Prosecutor Gordana Tadić held a presentation on the processing of terrorism cases in BiH

Within the panel of all chief prosecutors in BiH at the conference organized by the HJPC BiH, acting Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office Gordana Tadić, held a presentation on the processing of cases for criminal offenses related to terrorism, from the establishment of the BiH Prosecutor's Office to date.

The presentation included finalized cases and verdicts. It was emphasized that to date, 42 defendants have been indicted for criminal offenses of terrorism, as well as criminal offenses related to terrorism and terrorist activities, such as citizens of BiH going to foreign battlefields.

The conviction rate was 92%, as only 4 defendants have been acquitted in the past 14 years, and in cases of illegal formation and joining foreign paramilitary and paramilitary formations, related to the departure of BiH citizens to the foreign battlefields of Syria and Iraq and joining the structures of the so-called "ISIL", there were no acquittals, which speaks volumes about the seriousness and quality of the work of the BiH Prosecutor's Office and partner police and security agencies.

In the past period, final sentences totaling approximately 150 years of imprisonment have been handed down for criminal offenses of terrorism. The longest sentence was imposed on Haris Čaušević for the bombing of a police station in Bugojno in 2010, for 35 years imprisonment, which is the longest sentence for terrorism in BiH and the region.

For going to foreign battlefields and joining the structures of the so-called "ISIL", 23 persons were convicted to a total of approximately 50 years imprisonment, and the longest sentence was imposed on Husein Bosnić aka "Bilal" for 7 years imprisonment.

It was emphasized that investigations are underway against several persons suspected of criminal offenses related to terrorism, and that an investigation is being conducted in one case related to the participation of a BiH citizen in foreign battlefields in Ukraine.
