(Patria) - The UN Security Council vote on a new text calling for an "immediate" ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas has been postponed until Monday.
Diplomatic sources told AFP, after a separate draft resolution submitted by the United States was vetoed.
The United States, Israel's main ally and military supporter, put forward a resolution that mentioned the "imperative of an immediate and sustained ceasefire" and condemned Hamas's October 7 attack.
Russia and China vetoed that resolution on Friday, which did not explicitly demand that Israel immediately halt its campaign in Gaza.
The new text on the ceasefire was supposed to go to a vote on Saturday, but it was postponed to allow for further discussions on the draft, diplomatic sources said.
