(Patria) - CFeridun H. Sinirlioğlu will pay an unexpected official visit to BiH today, after the annual report of the Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Brian Aggeler, was presented at the regular session of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna on March 27.
During the visit, Sinirlioğlu will meet with the members of the Presidency of BiH and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmedin Konaković.
Discussions are expected to focus on the political situation in the country, the role of the OSCE in preserving stability and democratic processes, and the support of the international community for BiH.
His arrival in Sarajevo comes at a time of a serious constitutional crisis in the country, which was highlighted at the last session of the OSCE Permanent Council by the ambassadors of the EU, Great Britain, the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Turkey, Norway, Albania, and other countries.
In addition to supporting the work and mandate of the OSCE Mission to BiH, a significant part of their addresses was dedicated to condemning attempts to undermine the institutional functionality of the country.
Sinirlioğlu took over the duties of OSCE Secretary General in September 2023. Before that, from August to November 2015, he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey in a transitional government.
He is a long-time diplomat and state official, former ambassador of Turkey to the United Nations, and has held a number of high positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, including the position of Deputy Minister.
