Galić wrote to Magazinović: It is true that the Border Police of BiH works in inhumane conditions

Director of the Border Police of BiH Zoran Galić expressed gratitude to SDP BiH MP in the Parliamentary Assembly, Saša Magazinović, regarding the initiative for infrastructural improvement of border crossings and better working conditions for the Border Police of BiH.

- I wish to personally and on behalf of many members of the Border Police of BiH, as well as citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, thank you for the initiative you have launched. After our long-standing and numerous appeals that it is necessary to improve the infrastructure at border crossings because they are the first image of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and its officers work in inhumane conditions, it is encouraging that a representative in the legislative body shows interest in finally changing the situation for the better - stated, among other things, in the letter.

Director Galić emphasizes that the Border Police of BiH has repeatedly alerted the competent authorities, primarily the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA BiH), with a request to improve the extremely poor infrastructure at a number of border crossings in BiH. He confirmed that at some crossings, "there are no basic infrastructural conditions for conducting border checks and that police officers work in impossible conditions."

Magazinović noted that he is encouraged by Director Galić's stance and his support for opening this very important issue in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, both for the working conditions of Border Police employees and for the image of our country.

- The catastrophic conditions in which a significant number of border police officers work, the non-existent infrastructure, and finally all those torn or dirty flags that greet us on rusty poles at the entrance to BiH, are a disgrace to all politicians, from members of the Presidency of BiH to municipal mayors. Understanding the competencies and responsibility of the ITA BiH for solving this major problem, I want to emphasize that we must all contribute so that we do not face the winter tourist season ashamed of the first image of BiH experienced by all those who come to our homeland. In this regard, I expect that through the response to the parliamentary question I addressed to the Border Police of BiH, we will receive clear recommendations on the steps the Parliament of BiH can take on this issue - concluded Magazinović.
