Gallery: Vučko Entertained Visitors of Bosnian Mountains

During the past weekend, on the anniversary of the Winter Olympic Games held in Sarajevo in 1984, Vučko delighted visitors of Bjelašnica, Igman, and other Bosnian beauties, writes the Patria News Agency.

Back in 1984, readers of Yugoslav newspapers were asked to choose a mascot for the Winter Olympic Games from a list of 6 finalists.

The winner was Vučko, a little wolf, designed by Slovenian designer and illustrator Jože Trobec. The other finalists were a squirrel, a lamb, a mountain goat, a porcupine, and a snowball.

Vučko is a long-standing symbol of Sarajevo. In short animated films, shown before the broadcast of a sports discipline, Vučko was usually depicted as an awkward, likeable athlete, not very skilled in sports performances. Zdravko Čolić voiced Vučko in the opening sequences, usually with the same lyrics in the song with the city's name: Sarajevooooooooo!
