(Patria) - The Federal Police Administration wants to warn citizens about the increasingly frequent form of so-called "phishing" campaigns targeting citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
These are preparatory actions undertaken by unknown perpetrators to commit the criminal offense of "Fraud". Recently, false messages have been delivered to a number of email addresses of various recipients in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which an unknown person/persons presents themselves as an official of the investigative bodies of neighboring countries.
One example is that an unknown person or persons present themselves as heads of an organizational unit of the Criminal Police Administration of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia, and in the same message state that the recipient of the message is suspected of several different criminal offenses and asks the recipient to respond to the message, all with the aim of establishing contact, and in order to mislead the recipient of the message by taking further actions, so that they undertake certain activities to the detriment of their property, and for the benefit of the aforementioned unknown person/persons.
The Federal Administration points out the need to increase the level of information security for internet users in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to raise awareness about current trends in computer crime.
