FUP arrests former Croatian Interior Ministry special police officer in operation "Krupa" for extortion

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Police officers of the Federal Police Administration today, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior of Croatia and under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of the West Herzegovina Canton, undertook activities to implement the operational action codenamed "KRUPA" with the aim of documenting individuals linked to the criminal offense of "Extortion" under Article 295, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As part of these activities, and acting on an order from the Municipal Court in Široki Brijeg, searches of residential buildings were conducted at two locations in the area of the Čapljina municipality, and two persons from Čapljina were arrested, the FUP announced.

These are a former police officer of the Special Police Unit of the Ministry of Interior of Croatia, initials J.M. (born 1977), for whom multiple warrants and arrest orders issued by security authorities from Croatia and Germany are in effect, and a person with initials J.M. (born 1968).

The mentioned individuals are suspected of having demanded a sum of 250,000.00 euros from a person from Croatia over the past eight days, while issuing serious threats to the life and body of that person and their minor child.

During the arrest and search of these individuals, items used in the commission of the criminal offense were found and seized, which will serve as evidence in the criminal proceedings.

The arrested persons will be processed criminally in the official premises of the Federal Police Administration, and within the legal deadline will be handed over to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of the West Herzegovina Canton along with a Report on the committed criminal offense.
