French planes drop 40 tons of humanitarian aid in Gaza

(Patria) - French transport planes have dropped 40 tons of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip from Jordanian bases over the past two days.

"Faced with an absolute emergency, we have just carried out an air-drop operation in Gaza. Thank you to our partners from Jordan, the Emirates, and Germany for their support, as well as our military personnel for their dedication.

Air delivery is not enough. Israel must allow full humanitarian access to reduce the risk of famine," French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on platform X.

- Italy intends to evacuate sick Palestinian children from the Gaza Strip to provide them with medical care in light of the worsening humanitarian situation in the coastal enclave, said Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani today.

He stated that Rome is preparing a plan for the air transport of 50 people, including adults who will accompany the children. He also announced plans for Italy to join the countries that have been delivering aid to Gaza by air in recent days, but did not specify a date for their implementation.

Planes from Israel, Jordan, and the Emirates have been delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza by air since Sunday, after Israel began allowing a larger influx of aid following months of blockade.

Germany and France began dropping aid by air into Gaza today, due to warnings of famine. However, the UN and humanitarian organizations say this is more of a symbolic measure and that aid is much more effectively delivered by land.

In addition to allowing air delivery of aid, Israel has also been allowing the entry of 200 trucks per day with aid from the UN and other humanitarian agencies since Sunday.
