(Patria) - French President Emmanuel Macron announced yesterday that his country will send three Rafale fighter jets to help protect Poland's airspace, as part of cooperation with NATO, following a series of incidents with Russian drones on Polish territory.
"Following the incursion of Russian drones into Poland, I have decided to deploy three Rafale fighter jets to contribute to the protection of Polish airspace and the eastern flank of NATO, together with our allies," Macron wrote on the X platform.
W związku z wtargnięciem rosyjskich dronów do Polski, podjąłem decyzję o mobilizacji trzech myśliwców Rafale, aby wesprzeć ochronę polskiej przestrzeni powietrznej i wschodniej flanki Europy wraz z naszymi sojusznikami z NATO.

He added that he had taken this "commitment" two days ago in a conversation with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and that he had discussed this issue with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who are also involved in the defense of NATO's eastern flank.
"The security of the European continent is our absolute priority. We will not yield to the growing intimidation by Russia," Macron stated.
