France raises terrorism alert to highest level

(Patria) - The French government has raised its terrorism alert to the highest level following the shooting in Moscow.

This was confirmed yesterday by Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, after a meeting of senior security and defense officials with President Emmanuel Macron, reports Hina.

Attal announced on platform X that the decision, which comes months before Paris hosts the Olympic Games, was made "in light of the Islamic State's claim of responsibility for the Moscow attack and the threats facing the country."

France's terrorism alert has three levels, with the highest being activated in anticipation of attacks in France or abroad when the threat of an attack is imminent.

This allows for the introduction of extraordinary security measures, such as increased patrols by the armed forces in public places like train stations, airports, and religious sites.
