France ready for additional sanctions on Israel: Level of human suffering in Gaza is unbearable

(Patria) - France yesterday expressed readiness to impose additional sanctions on Israel, stating that the level of human suffering in Gaza is unbearable.

- We will not hesitate to take additional measures, including targeted national sanctions - stated the spokesperson for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lemoine.

He emphasized that they are prepared to take concrete measures if Israel continues its offensive in Gaza, and reiterated that nothing is excluded when it comes to sanctions, although they will also be considered at the "European level".

- The level of human suffering in Gaza is unbearable. The announcements made by Israel regarding the minimal entry of food into the Gaza Strip are completely insufficient - stressed Lemoine.

He called on the Israeli government to cease military operations in Gaza and to allow the entry of humanitarian aid "immediately".

- Israel must end settlement activities, which are illegal and undermine the viability of a Palestinian state, as well as the security of both Israelis and Palestinians - Lemoine stated.

He reaffirmed that France "strongly supports" the efforts made by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

- We are determined to recognize a Palestinian state as a contribution to the two-state solution, and we are ready to cooperate with others - Lemoine said.

He added that France supports the review of the Association Agreement between the EU and Israel, noting that the decision will be made by all member states.

- This is an important point, as the Association Agreement is a framework agreement that governs relations between Israel and the EU, including political dialogue, cooperation measures, and trade provisions - said Lemoine, emphasizing that the announced review will be of extremely great importance.

He also recalled the importance of this process, highlighting that the EU is one of the main markets for Israeli products.
