(Patria) - France and Ukraine signed a bilateral security agreement on Friday, including promises from Paris to deliver more weapons, train soldiers, and send up to three billion euros in military aid to Kyiv this year to help the country in its war against Russia, Reuters reported.
The French presidency announced that the agreement, signed by Emmanuel Macron and his counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy, includes France's commitment to provide "up to" three billion euros in additional military support to Ukraine in 2024.
In the agreement, which follows similar agreements Kyiv has reached with the United Kingdom and Germany, France also commits to providing more military equipment, particularly for air defense.
France, along with other partners, will help Ukraine make its defense capabilities "increasingly interoperable with NATO," the Élysée stated, adding:
"This includes the development of a modern defense sector in Ukraine and a path towards a future in NATO."
