Organizational Committee Formed: Sarajevo and East Sarajevo Receive Support for EYOF 2019

At the constitutive session of the Organizational Committee of the European Youth Olympic Festival EYOF 2019, it was concluded that institutions at all levels of government should make maximum efforts for the cities of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo to seize the opportunity they received by being awarded the hosting of EYOF 2019, it was announced from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, reports the Patria News Agency.

The Organizational Committee constituted today consists of the highest officials of the executive authorities at the level of BiH, the entities, the Sarajevo Canton, and the host cities, aiming to gain absolute support for this project.

It was stated that the financial structure is largely secured, except for a certain part that should be provided by the Government of Republika Srpska.

The present members of the Committee called on the Government of Republika Srpska to declare its participation in the financing and organization of the European Youth Olympic Festival as soon as possible.

Full support was expressed by the members of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Federation of BiH, the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Government, as well as the Ministers of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton.

The European Youth Olympic Festival is expected to be held in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo in February 2019.

Competitions will be held in seven sports, 16 disciplines, and sports venues in the areas of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo are included. Although a significant part of the infrastructure for holding the competitions exists, investments are also needed to bring the venues up to the standard required by the European Olympic Committee.

The EYOF 2019 company, which is responsible for the organization of the event, states that regardless of the necessary investments in infrastructure and the organization of the Festival, significant profit is expected for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the host cities, according to the statement.
