FOČA: 3,000 Roses for Slain Bosniaks, 627 Victims Still Missing

FOČA; (Patria) - Symbolic laying of roses into the Drina River from Karlov Most – the bridge of suffering near the infamous Foča prison – marked the anniversary of the crime against 3,000 Bosniak civilians from this city.

Members of the Association of War Victims "Foča 1992 - 1995" mark the day of remembrance every first Sunday in August for all Foča martyrs and the horrific crimes in which people were killed, captured, raped, and tortured in this city, so that the victims and the crimes are not forgotten.

Midheta Kaloper Oruli from the Association "Foča 1992-1995" said that during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, 3,000 Bosniaks were killed in Foča, of whom 586 were women.

"That in itself speaks to the nature of the warfare. Unfortunately, 28 years have passed, and we still haven't found our loved ones, and we are still searching for 627 members of our families who are listed as 'missing'," said Kaloper Oruli.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a smaller number of people attended today's commemoration, with protective measures in place.
