The Finnish army sent a letter to 900,000 members of the reserve military force explaining what they must do in case of a "crisis situation", media reported on Sunday, reports the Patria News Agency.
The letter, sent in early May, states that "military service is the cornerstone of Finnish defense" and calls on reservists to update their personal information.
Minister of Defense Carl Haglund denied that the letter had anything to do with the tense relations with neighboring Russia.
Russian military aircraft have violated Finnish airspace several times in recent months. Finland and neighboring Sweden are not NATO members.
