Finland investigates cause of submarine cable outage to Estonia

(Patria) - Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said yesterday that his country is investigating the outage of a submarine power cable connecting Finland and Estonia.

"Even on Christmas, the authorities are on alert to investigate the matter," Orpo wrote on platform X, Reuters reports.

Finnish national electricity transmission grid operator "Fingrid" earlier announced that an unplanned outage occurred on the "Estlink 2" interconnector at 10:26 a.m. local time.

This reduced the available grid capacity to 358 megawatts, from an installed capacity of 1,016 megawatts.
