Film 'The Great White House' at Sarajevo Film Festival

(Patria) - The film "The Great White House" has shown the impact it leaves on audiences and expert juries at various festivals through a series of successes. After winning the title of best film at the Dubrovnik Film Festival 2018 and the main award in the documentary film category at the "New Wave" film festival in Sofia, it continued to attract attention. Namely, the film "The Great White House" will be screened at this year's Sarajevo Film Festival as part of the BH Film program in the documentary film category on August 20, 2019, at 12:30 PM at Cinema City.

BH Film, spearheaded by the Association of Film Workers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a program aimed at promoting Bosnian-Herzegovinian film, and it proves every year to be an important and indispensable platform for BH filmmakers, regardless of where they live and work.

"The Great White House" is entirely the work of members of the youth group treated for cancer – MladiCe, which operates within the Association "Wings of Hope for Children with Cancer" and their mentor Zoran Zoka Ćatić. It was created exclusively through volunteer work and great enthusiasm, as they wanted to show that we must constantly seek new ways for young people to publicly discuss problems, while simultaneously pointing out possibilities for their solutions. The young people in the film talk about the Parent's House and its importance for children with cancer and their families, and one of the film's goals was to highlight the lack of solutions for financing the Parent's House of the "Wings of Hope" Association.

The film's protagonists, young people who survived childhood cancer, discuss optimism, motivation, and future plans for achieving their dreams, both now and before the dangerous illness they survived, based on their own life experiences.

"We are immensely pleased that we will finally present the film to the BH public, and we are especially honored that it will be within the Sarajevo Film Festival. "The Great White House" represents our soul, our motivation, and in it, we spoke most honestly, from the heart, about ourselves, about what drives us, about the difficult fight for life, and everything we learned during it. Although it is short and only 15 minutes long, the film is very inspiring and should be watched by everyone. Therefore, we hope that the hall will be full during the screening of "The Great White House." Once again, we thank our mentor Zoka Ćatić for this wonderful film and the Association of Film Workers of BiH for recognizing the value of this film and the message it carries," said Ajla Nizić, a member of the MladiCe group and one of the film's protagonists.
