SARAJevo, (Patria) - Avdo Huseinović's film „Junak umire jednom“ (A Hero Dies Once), which talks about Bosnian Serbs in the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the war in BiH, will premiere tonight at the Kovači Memorial Center in Sarajevo.
„In my previous films as well, I encountered stories about the feats of non-Muslims in the ranks of the Bosnian army. My first film, Vanzemaljci iznad Sarajeva (Aliens Above Sarajevo), featured the testimony of Rade Zoranović, a legendary fighter from Žuč. Earlier, I wrote about the late Major Mihajlo Petrović in my columns,“ Huseinović said in an interview for Al Jazeera.
Huseinović said that he himself was a member of an Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina brigade during the war, which was nicknamed the First Glorious-Orthodox due to its multi-ethnicity.
„It included almost 300 Bosnian Serbs, 31 were killed, and five of them were awarded the wartime recognition 'Golden Lily',“ Huseinović pointed out.
Part of the film „Junak umire jednom“ (A Hero Dies Once) is dedicated, among others, to Mihajlo Petrović, who formed a detachment of fighters for the defense of central Bosnia during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He used to say about himself that he was a "Serb by birth, Bosnian by conviction". He was killed on October 25th on Vlašić.
Avdo Huseinović's film about Bosnian Serbs, heroes of the defense of Bosnia, was filmed over approximately two years, and besides Sarajevo, it will also be shown in other cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports NAP.
