SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the German city of Dortmund, most likely in a Turkish club, the film "Republika Srpska: The Struggle for Freedom" by Boris Malagurski was shown, in which the author denies genocide and equates victims and perpetrators.
Murat Tahirović, president of the Association of Witnesses and Victims of Genocide, confirmed this to N1, adding that he cannot believe that it was the Turkish diaspora that allowed the film to be shown.
“We were speechless. We went out of our way, everyone from Canada, our friends, associations and diaspora, and us here, to warn everyone in Switzerland, Germany and Austria, and all those officials working in certain positions, that this is an evil person and film, and then we are stunned, because the Turkish diaspora did this to us, at least that's how it seems, if it's true. We are still checking all the facts, but everything points to it being true and that the film was shown in Dortmund in that Turkish club. A small club, but it was shown,” said Tahirović.
It never crossed anyone's mind, he adds, that this could happen.
The film's director also commented on social media, thanking the Turks for saving his premiere in Dortmund.
“The Germans cancelled the premiere of the film 'Republika Srpska: The Struggle for Freedom' in Dortmund after pressure from Bosniak and Albanian extremists, but the Turks in Dortmund taught the Germans a lesson in courage, European values and tolerance. Thank them for opening the doors of their premises and their hearts to us and our struggle for truth and freedom of speech. Thank them for saving our premiere in Dortmund. Long live Serbian-Turkish friendship,” wrote Malagurski.
Cancelled in numerous cities in Germany, Switzerland and Austria
The Mothers of Srebrenica condemned this film and demanded that its screening be banned. They said that those who support this film also support Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
“The film denies the genocide, the aggression against the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the intention of providing additional strength to the deniers of the genocide in Srebrenica – those who committed crimes against humanity and genocide, those who celebrate those criminals and support their perpetrators,” stated the Mothers of Srebrenica.
Also, the International Expert Team of the Institute for Genocide Research Canada (IGK) recently launched a petition to stop the screening of the film.
The goal of the petition, as stated, is to warn the political entities of the states and cities where the film's promotion was announced, as well as the rest of the world, about the anti-civilizational attempt to equate victims of genocide with criminals, by revising historical, scientific and judicial facts about the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Let us recall, the screening of the film "Republika Srpska: The Struggle for Freedom" was cancelled in numerous cities in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
“A few years ago, a Turkish society, together with our diaspora, organized a peace march in Dortmund,” Tahirović pointed out, adding that he “cannot believe it.”
