Film that will be shocking for the region: Stipe was only 14 when criminals raped him

Can silence be so strong that it pierces the ears more than any scream? Can silence hurt, shatter the soul into tiny pieces more than a spoken insult? It can!

The silence that reigned in the hall of Sarajevo's BKC during last night's premiere of the documentary film "Rape in War - Invisible Scars" was terrifying.

And then there is a man's tear. They say it is heavier than a woman's. Stipe could not hold them back. He was only 14 years old. In 1992, from the Institute for Special Education and Upbringing of Children Mjedenica in Sarajevo, he came to his mother in Kalinovik. The child is from a mixed marriage.

The bloodthirsty attackers fell upon him. Even though they saw he was sick, a child. They sexually abused him.

Watching the film again last night, in which he also walks through Kalinovik and shows the places where the criminals tormented him, he cried. He cried throughout the entire screening. A middle-aged woman sitting next to him tried to calm him down.

Silence, sobs, sighs... and so for 66 minutes. Hundreds of people in the hall, among them a large number of guests from Turkey, watched breathlessly as women and men who survived rape. They watched them on the big screen, but also in front of them... they came out and stood before the people. For the first time in their lives, they showed themselves publicly.

Their stories are blood-curdling.

For the first time, men also spoke about the "disgrace that befell them." Brčko, Kalinovik, Vogošća, Zvornik, Bileća, Miljevina, Kiseljak....66 minutes of horrors these people endured. The traumas that remained in their souls are invisible to the eye. But they hurt. They tear the soul apart. Just like the silence that reigned last night in the BKC hall.

Huseinović: I still am not aware of everything the people said

The author of the film, which was made in cooperation with the Association of Camp Inmates of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is Avdo Huseinović.

-The film will be shocking for the entire region. We worked on it for a year, finishing it 20 days ago. I still cannot understand some things. I am still not aware of everything the people said, said Huseinović.

Mešković: 25,000 people were raped

The president of the Association of Camp Inmates of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jasmin Mešković, reminded that during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, 25,000 women, girls, female children, elderly women, boys, men, and elderly men were raped.

-The raped have finally spoken, opened their souls. It is not the shame of the people who were raped, it is the shame of the organizers and perpetrators, emphasized Mešković.

Large number of public figures in the audience

In addition to former camp inmates, citizens of Sarajevo, and guests from Turkey, the premiere was also attended by numerous public figures: Jovan Divjak, Abdulah Sidran, Ejup Ganić, Naser Orić, Amor Mašović, Avdo Hebib, Jasmin Odobašić, Šemsudin Mehmedović, Ferid Buljubašić, Ćamil Duraković....
