Fidan estimates final number of participants in Gaza Peace Committee will be thirty

(Patria) - The number of countries participating in the Gaza Peace Committee could ultimately be between 25 and 30, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told NTV television, TASS reported.

"At this moment, the countries that have joined the Committee are waiting for the process related to Germany to be completed. Certain countries have specifically requested additional time. I think about six or seven countries will join in the end, and the number of participants will grow. In other words, the total number of participants could reach 25-30. At this moment, there are nineteen of us," he said.

Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that he is ready to join the Peace
Committee, established by US President Donald Trump, but Berlin "cannot accept its governance structures" in their current form.

Fidan added that Turkey continues to coordinate its efforts regarding Palestine with other countries, such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan.

"They are also part of this group. It also includes some countries from Europe and Latin America.
We will do everything we can to promote the Palestinian agenda. Of course, we need to keep in mind that it is not that simple. We are now in a phase where the conflict has been moved to the negotiating table. Countries with opposing views and agendas are gathering to promote their interests."

Representatives of nineteen countries signed the charter establishing the Peace Committee for peace efforts in Gaza on January 22nd at a ceremony on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

More than fifty countries will join the Peace Committee, said US President Donald Trump.

Although the initiative started based on an agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas on
the governance of the Gaza Strip, it will also address conflict prevention and resolution in other regions.
