(Patria) - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called on Europe, as well as the parties to the conflict in Ukraine and interested countries, to engage in negotiations, noting that American mediation in this issue has chances for success, TASS reported last night.
- In the absence of the US (direct engagement with Europe on the issue of Ukraine), Europe needs to seek more creative solutions to become more resilient. I believe that the only sustainable way to end this war is to engage in negotiations with sincerity and determination.
Currently, good mediation efforts are underway. I hope that American mediation will help achieve success - they have every chance of success - Fidan said at a forum in Doha.
He emphasized that a "platform for interaction and continuation of dialogue is necessary", despite the ongoing hostilities.
- From the very beginning, I advised my Ukrainian and European friends to do so (to continue dialogue - TASS) and I also spoke about it with my American friends during the administration of (former US President Joe) Biden.
I believe that negotiations offer significant opportunities. They may not stop the war immediately, but they certainly help and create additional opportunities and chances for the warring parties and interested parties - Fidan added.
