Festival of Lights: Visit the National Museum of BiH and experience an unforgettable event

(Patria) - The Festival of Lights opened in Sarajevo last month, captivating visitors from day one.

And why it's worth visiting, travel photographer Boris Trogrančić told Punkufer.hr.

Modeled after light shows in botanical gardens and parks around the world, this festival truly offers a memorable experience.

- Light decorations illuminate the facade of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the museum's botanical garden is filled with light sculptures, video installations, and thousands of lights.

This festival is also special because the entire exhibition is inspired by what is already in the National Museum, enriching not only the tourist but also the cultural offer of Sarajevo during the winter period.

Since Thursdays, purchasing a ticket for this festival also grants entry to the Museum, the goal is to attract new visitors, especially children and young people. The ticket price is 10 KM.

An exhibition by the art group "Tilt" from France is also part of this festival. The Festival of Lights - Fête des lumières in Lyon is the most important and prestigious light festival in the world and is considered the source from which it all began.

The well-known Austrian company "MK Illumination" is responsible for the light installations at this festival - says Boris.

The organizers announced that all money collected from ticket sales will be invested in the renovation of the southern part of the botanical garden, which is extremely positive news.

- When I bought the ticket, I received a Festival of Lights Sarajevo bracelet as a souvenir of my visit to the festival.

I encountered a lot of visitors and quite a crowd at the entrance. Later, I found out that tickets can also be purchased online, through the official Festival website - the photographer reveals.

The festival can be visited every day except Monday, from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

- Of course, I took this opportunity to visit the National Museum of BiH itself, which, as the most significant cultural and scientific institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina, holds incredible natural and cultural-historical treasures.

In addition to impressive permanent exhibitions in the departments of archaeology, ethnology, and natural sciences, two guest exhibitions are currently on display at the National Museum of BiH.

The exhibition "Avars and Slavs South of the Drava" presents archaeological material from the early medieval period from the area of continental Croatia, with a brief textual overview of the regions of Dalmatia, Istria, and Primorje.

Particularly interesting is the attractive exhibition "NINGYŌ: The Art and Beauty of Japanese Dolls," organized by the National Museum of BiH with the Japan Foundation and the Embassy of Japan - adds Boris.

The Festival of Lights runs until March 1st of next year.
