(Patria) - Attorney for the Memić family Ifet Feraget said that an appeal will be filed against the acquittal in the case of Zijad Mutap after today's acquittal, but that they most trust in the investigation of the Prosecutor's Office regarding the murder of Dženan Memić itself.
Judge Branko Perić today acquitted all defendants of organized crime, i.e., illegal mediation, aiding the perpetrator after the commission of a criminal offense, obstruction of evidence, and giving false testimony in connection with the death of Dženan Memić.
"It is an understatement to say that I am disappointed, but I am a professional and I must maintain dignity regardless of the disappointment," said Feraget in front of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"The main question is whether we as a society will move in a better direction after this case. This is a test for the Bosnian judiciary, which has not been passed so far. This is a serious struggle for all citizens of this country," said Feraget.
Both courts and prosecutor's offices, he added, should serve the citizens.
"What Judge Branko Perić said, I can very easily refute. The comments were incoherent, deviating from objective evidence. It is obvious that someone tried to cover up Dženan's murder," concluded the attorney for the Memić family.
Feraget said he cannot speculate on what will happen with the murder investigation.
