Federal Police Administration headless: FBiH Government has not yet appointed acting director

(Patria) - The Federal Police Administration (FUP) is still headless, after Ensad Korman's term as acting director of FUP expired on May 6, 2023.

The FBiH Government has not appointed a new acting director, although Minister Ramo Isak stated immediately after taking office that Vahidin Munjić would be appointed to that position.

However, that agenda item was removed from the FBiH Government session, and nothing has been done on this matter to date. A phone session was also expected to appoint an acting director, but that did not happen either.

According to Isak's earlier statements, Munjić was supposed to be appointed on May 4, and in the meantime, a letter was sent to the FBiH Government stating that according to Article 45, Paragraph 3 of the Law on Internal Affairs of FBiH, the proposed candidate Munjić Vahidin cannot continue to perform the duties of director because he is not the head of the organizational unit where criminal police work is carried out, nor has he ever done so.

"If the deputy police director is prevented from performing the duties referred to in paragraph (2) of this article, for legal or other reasons, the police director shall be replaced by the head of the organizational unit in which criminal police work is carried out until the police director is able to resume his duties or until a new police director is appointed," states the Law on Internal Affairs of FBiH.

It is unclear what is happening with the competition for the director of FUP, whether it has been canceled or not, in which Svevlad Hoffmann passed. Earlier, Elmedin Konaković also stated that Hoffmann would not be the director, which means a new competition must be announced, but that will not happen before the Independent Board is established in the Parliament of the Federation.

Isak also noted that the director of FUP will be a professional from the Croatian people.
