European countries, US and Ukrainians to hold talks tomorrow in Geneva

(Patria) - Representatives of European countries will discuss the American peace plan for Ukraine in Geneva tomorrow with Ukrainian and US representatives, a source from the German government told the dpa agency.

US President Donald Trump has given Kyiv until Thursday to respond to his 28-point peace plan proposal.

The draft, which leaked to the media earlier this week and was officially presented to Kyiv on Thursday, has raised concerns in Ukraine and among its key European partners as it includes broad territorial and military concessions to Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed a negotiating delegation to negotiate with Washington, Russia, and other involved international partners, according to a decree published today in Kyiv.

Zelensky has appointed Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak as the chief negotiator. The nine-member delegation also includes the head of military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov.

Zelensky said yesterday that the American peace plan leaves Ukraine facing "a very difficult choice: either loss of dignity or the risk of losing a key partner," referring to the US.

Without US support – which provides weapons and key intelligence for Ukraine's fight against Russian forces – continuing the war would be much more difficult for Kyiv.

Senior Ukrainian officials, however, plan to meet with US representatives in Switzerland in the coming days to discuss President Donald Trump's proposed peace plan.

The exact time or place of the talks has not been specified.
