European Union preparing for potential talks with Russia and Putin

(Patria) - The European Union is preparing for potential talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the war in Ukraine, said European Council President Antonio Costa, TASS reported.

"I am talking to the 27 national leaders (of the European Union) to see the best way to organize ourselves and to identify what we need to effectively talk to Russia when the right moment comes to do so," Costa said, quoted by the Financial Times.

According to Costa, there is "potential" for the European Union to negotiate with Putin. The newspaper stated that the change in the opinion of European leaders was driven by growing frustration with US President Donald Trump's approach to resolving the Ukrainian war.
