(Patria) - European Union countries have reached an agreement on limiting the price of Russian oil, world agencies report.
After several days of consultations and talks, member states decided that the maximum price for a barrel of Russian oil will be 60 dollars. Poland fought until the last moment for the price to be even lower, but in the end, it gave up and supported the agreement of other EU members.
According to the agreement adopted today, G7 countries will prohibit their insurance and freight companies from enabling the delivery of Russian oil even to third countries if it is sold for more than 60 dollars per barrel.
A diplomatic source told Politico journalists that the agreement will be reviewed every two months, and the goal is to set the limit at a level at least five percent below the market price of Russian oil during the review process.
