MEP wrote to Putin, claims parts of Ukraine belong to Romania

(Patria) - Diana Sosoaca, MEP and leader of the far-right party S.O.S. Romania, sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin after the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) rejected her candidacy for the presidential elections.

Sosoaca believes her candidacy was denied because she wants to establish "good relations" with Russia. She emphasizes that Romania has become a "real dictatorship" and adds that her country has a right to a part of Ukrainian territory.

"We have Romanian territories that Ukraine illegally holds due to the unfair Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact, and therefore we have the right to defend Romanians in the territories we wish to reclaim," the letter sent to Putin states.

Sosoaca began her political career as a member of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) party, but was later expelled from the party due to disagreements with the leadership. She became known for her anti-immigration and anti-vaccination stances. Last year, she was elected as a Member of the European Parliament.

In a live Facebook video recorded during the vote for the election of the Parliament President, Sosoaca filmed herself crossing out the names of Roberta Metsola and her opponent Irene Montero, and writing the words "NEVER FOR UKRAINE, NEVER FOR LGBT, NEVER FOR EU DICTATORSHIP" on her ballot.

She proposed that a priest be invited to the European Parliament to cleanse it of the devil. On her first day in parliament, Sosoaca wore a traditional Romanian folk costume. She also added that she brought calming fragrant resin and an icon of Saint Paraskeva, a 10th-century Balkan saint.
