EU allocates 40 percent of its budget to agriculture, BiH must do the same

The Democratic Front of Željko Komšić presented parts of the economic program "Vision 14 - 22" today at a press conference in Sarajevo, which the party claims can solve the country's most difficult problems, writes the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Dženan Đonlagić, a professor at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo and the holder of the DF list for the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, claims that Bosnia and Herzegovina must, among other things, fulfill four strategic economic policies if it wants progress, and that is to encourage domestic and foreign investors and to encourage the real sector, i.e., production.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Đonlagić says, must urgently shift from an import and trade strategy to a production strategy.

The third set of DF economic policies is to stimulate rural development and tourism, while the fourth set involves reorganizing the public sector. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Đonlagić says, there is an unsustainable gap between the public and real sectors, even though the real sector is the one that fills the budgets and creates new values.

- If the European Union has defined agriculture as its strategic policy, and if it allocates 40 percent of its common budget to agriculture, then it is very logical for Bosnia and Herzegovina to position agriculture as its strategic policy - said Đonlagić.

If Bosnia and Herzegovina manages to recover the country's economy, other problems in the country affecting healthcare, culture, and other spheres will be easier to solve, warns this expert, writes Patria.
