EU changes travel restrictions: Everything remains the same for BiH

(Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina was not on the list of countries for which temporary restrictions on non-essential travel to European Union and Schengen zone countries, introduced during the coronavirus pandemic, were lifted this time either, it was announced today from Brussels.

Following a regular review of the situation in third countries, EU institutions decided to gradually lift travel restrictions from October 22 for the following countries: Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Uruguay, as well as for China, but subject to confirmation of reciprocity, N1 writes.

The criteria determining travel rules for third countries relate to the epidemiological situation in those countries, as well as measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic, which include, among other things, limiting social contacts, economic and social aspects.

On March 16 this year, the European Commission decided to temporarily restrict all non-essential travel from third countries to the EU for a period of one month. The decision remained in force in the following months, and the list of countries for which restrictions are potentially lifted is reviewed every fifteen days.

We remind you that, according to data from entity institutes and Brčko District, 999 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past 24 hours. As many as 20 people died.
