(Patria) - The authority and integrity of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the highest judicial body of Bosnia and Herzegovina is unquestionable, the European Union stated in today's reaction.
"Its decisions, which are final and binding throughout the country, must be respected. The National Assembly of Republika Srpska has no jurisdiction to decide on the non-application of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Therefore, yesterday's vote on the non-application of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Republika Srpska is without legal basis.
The vote marks a clear departure from the expectations that accompanied the granting of candidate status for EU membership. The interruption of cooperation in achieving key EU priorities is regrettable and is completely contrary to the wishes and interests of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The EU has consistently demonstrated that it is a loyal partner to Bosnia and Herzegovina with an unequivocal commitment to the country and its accession perspective to the EU as a single, united, and sovereign state," the reaction states.
