EU Continues Support for Fight Against Crime and Corruption with a Project Worth 2.2 Million Euros

(Patria) - As part of the European Union's continuous support for the rule of law sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a new project titled “EU4Justice: Support for the Fight Against Organized Crime and Corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina“, funded by the European Union with 2.2 million euros, will be officially presented on Thursday, May 16, 2019.

“EU4Justice: Support for the Fight Against Organized Crime and Corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is a two-year project (2019-2021), with a budget of 2.2 million euros, funded by the European Union and implemented by GIP Justice Coopération Internationale (GIP JCI). The project will cover all judicial institutions in BiH, the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, prosecutor’s offices, courts, ministries of justice, law enforcement agencies, and APIK. The project aims to improve the efficiency, integrity, and professionalism of institutions in the rule of law sector in BiH. It will also help improve cooperation between prosecutor’s offices and law enforcement agencies to increase the effectiveness of investigations into organized crime and corruption cases. The project will also strengthen capacities in terms of human resources and performance management, as well as disciplinary frameworks and procedures.

The project is implemented in partnership with GIP Justice Coopération Internationale (GIP JIP) with the aim of improving the efficiency of investigations and criminal prosecution of serious corruption and organized crime cases through enhanced cooperation throughout the criminal justice system. The project will be presented at a press conference to be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 10:45 AM at the EU Info Centre premises.

The Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to BiH, Khaldoun Sinno, the Ambassador of the Republic of France to BiH H.E. Guillaume Rousson, and the EU4Justice project leader – a French prosecutor specializing in serious crime, Isabelle Arnal, will address the media on this occasion.
