(Patria) - Ethiopian Airlines has grounded its fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft indefinitely, the airline announced on its Twitter account on Monday, a day after an accident in which 157 people died in one of their aircraft of the same type.
"Although we do not yet know the cause of the accident, we had to decide to replace that fleet as an additional precautionary measure," the airline stated.
Ethiopian Airlines has a fleet of four 737 MAX 8 aircraft, not counting the one that crashed on Sunday.
Following the accident in Ethiopia, China also ordered its airlines on Monday to suspend flights of 737 MAX 8 aircraft by 6:00 PM.
