Tensions escalate: Protests in Iran continue for two weeks, US and Iran exchange sharp messages

(Patria) - Despite an almost complete internet and phone line blockade, footage and reports continue to arrive from Iran showing that a large number of people have returned to the streets for protests.

Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, accused the United States of being "responsible for the unrest and violent acts" in Iran. In a letter to the UN Security Council, he stated that, as he claims, American interference is carried out "through threats, incitement, and deliberate encouragement of violence, and disruption of peace and stability".

Iravani condemned the behavior of the US and, as he stated, their "coordination with Israel in interfering in Iran's internal affairs".

Protests in Iran have been ongoing for 14 days, since they began in Tehran's market.

The US Secretary of State announced on X that "The United States supports the brave people of Iran".

The US Department of State warned Iran not to underestimate the determination of the United States.

"The Iranian regime is fully aware of President Trump's warning and should not test the resolve of the US," said a State Department spokesperson.

He added that the authorities in Tehran should "carefully consider the consequences of their actions" and not underestimate the determination of the United States under the leadership of Donald Trump.
