(Patria) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that his country is making intensive diplomatic efforts to stop the escalation of conflict in the Middle East and open space for a political solution.
- Attacks on Iran, as well as missile and kamikaze drone attacks on neighboring countries in the Gulf, have further fueled instability.
Through peace-oriented diplomacy, we are making intensive efforts to resolve issues at the negotiating table - Erdogan said in a televised address, as reported by The Guardian.
According to sources from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the head of the Turkish diplomacy, Hakan Fidan, previously met with the US envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, in Washington.
The talks, as stated, focused on the regional security situation and possible diplomatic initiatives to de-escalate tensions.
Fidan also spoke with his British counterpart, Yvette Cooper, about the "current security environment in the region".
During this, diplomatic steps that could contribute to ending hostilities and establishing stability were "discussed in detail".
Turkey, as a regional power and NATO member, seeks to maintain a balance between different actors in the conflict, positioning itself as a potential mediator in de-escalation negotiations.
