ANKARA, (Patria) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin with the highest state honors in Ankara, Turkish media reported.
After a joint photo in front of the presidential palace, the Turkish and Russian presidents attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Turkey's first nuclear power plant, Akkuyu, via videoconference.
For Erdogan, this is a historic moment, as he said, in the context of the country's development, but also energy cooperation with Russia. The two presidents will chair the 7th meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council between Turkey and Russia.
Tomorrow, Putin will also attend the trilateral summit of Turkey, Russia, and Iran in Ankara, with Syria being the topic of the summit.
