Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is on an official visit to Turkey where he met today with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, writes Patria agency.
After the meeting with Erdoğan, Vučić told the Serbian media that Erdoğan confirmed he would bring 150 Turkish businessmen to Serbia to invest in the country.
The Serbian President added that he believes his Turkish counterpart will visit Serbia as soon as possible and that he asked him to stay for several days so they could discuss all regional and political issues.
The Serbian President stated that Serbia's trade exchange with Turkey is growing year by year and that he expects this to continue.
- I had talks with Turkish companies interested in the textile industry, the privatization of our spas, and some other areas for which we have not seen such interest from Turkish investors before - said Vučić, reports Tanjug agency.
He added that he believes that, with the support of Erdoğan and Turkey, this will bring new results, even more jobs, and greater GDP growth for Serbia, which is of great importance to Serbia.
Vučić also emphasized that Turkey is one of the most important countries for full regional stability and peace.
- We respect Turkish strength, we respect ourselves, and we believe we can build a good and sincere friendship between the Serbian and Turkish peoples and the Serbian and Turkish states - concluded Vučić.
Today's meeting was the first official bilateral meeting between Vučić and the current President of Turkey.
At Erdoğan's invitation, Vučić participated in the 22nd International Petroleum Congress. Erdoğan is expected to pay a return visit to Serbia in the autumn.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Serbia in July 2010, when he was prime minister.
He then met with the Serbian state leadership and visited Novi Pazar.
During that visit, several memorandums of understanding were signed related to the construction of road infrastructure.
