Erdogan: The Palestinian issue is a global issue, Israel must withdraw its forces

(Patria) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke about finding a solution to the Palestinian issue and implementing the two-state solution at the 80th UN General Assembly in New York:

"I congratulate all countries that recognize the Palestinian state and I hope these steps will accelerate the implementation of the two-state solution. The massacre in Gaza continues with all its violence, and no one with a conscience can remain silent in the face of such genocide. Netanyahu's government aims to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state and force the displacement of Palestinians. Today, the Palestinian issue has become a global issue," Erdogan said.

He stated that a society that was once a victim of the Holocaust is now committing genocide against its neighbors.

"The international community must stop the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, the fait accompli actions in East Jerusalem, and attempts to spread instability in the region. Now, it is necessary to declare a ceasefire in Gaza, ensure the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid, and for Israel to withdraw its forces," said the Turkish president.

After France, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa also stated that they officially recognize Palestine.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan al Saud called on countries that have not yet recognized the state of Palestine to do so to help achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that nothing can justify the systematic decimation of Gaza, the starvation of its population, and the events in the occupied West Bank that pose an existential threat to the two-state solution.

"Is a one-state scenario where Palestinians are denied basic rights, expelled from their homes and lands, forced to live in permanent occupation, discrimination, and subjugation, acceptable in the 21st century? Statehood for Palestinians is a right, not a reward," Guterres said.
