Erdogan informed Putin about the ambassador's assassination

Spokesperson for the President of Turkey Ibrahim Kalin stated this evening in Ankara that the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin about the armed attack on the Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov, who succumbed to his injuries. Erdogan informed Putin about the attack on the diplomat by phone, world media report, Patria reports.

The armed attacker, who is a Turkish police officer, shot the Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov, and was killed in the ensuing police operation.

Karlov was attacked at a photo exhibition he opened at the Center for Contemporary Art in Ankara. Official Moscow called the ambassador's assassination a terrorist act, but as the media write, relations between the two countries should not cool down.
