Erdogan: Iran has the legal right to defend itself against Israel, we are monitoring the situation and are prepared for all scenarios

(Patria) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Wednesday that Iran has a "legitimate" right to defend itself in the face of Israel's bombing campaign, which has been ongoing for six days.

- It is very natural, legitimate, and legal for Iran to defend itself against Israeli violence and state terrorism - said the Turkish leader, a day after calling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "the biggest threat to the region's security".

The blitz attack with long-range missiles was launched early Friday morning, when Israel launched a massive bombing campaign that prompted Iran to retaliate with missiles and drones, including hypersonic missiles.

- These attacks were organized while the Iranian nuclear negotiations were taking place - Erdogan said.

- Israel, which possesses nuclear weapons and does not recognize any international rules, did not wait for the negotiations to end, but committed an act of terror without waiting for the outcome - he added.

Iran claims that at least 224 people were killed in Israeli attacks, which targeted nuclear and military facilities, while Iran's fire on Israel claimed at least 24 lives and injured hundreds of others, Netanyahu's office announced.

- We are closely monitoring Israel's terrorist attacks on Iran. All our institutions are on high alert due to the possible consequences of these attacks on Turkey - Erdogan said.

- We are preparing for every type of scenario. No one should dare to test us - added the Turkish leader, reports AFP.
