Erdogan: Islamic countries must show the strongest response to oppression in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon

(Patria) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday called on the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to immediately recommend the use of force in Gaza, similar to the 1950 "Uniting for Peace" resolution.

- Today, advocating for Palestine and Lebanon means advocating for humanity, peace, and a culture of coexistence among different faiths - Erdogan said after a cabinet meeting in the Turkish capital Ankara.

- A handful of radical Zionists, blinded by blood and hatred, have set the region and the entire world ablaze. We will never accept this cruelty and barbarism - Erdogan said, referring to Israel's continuous attacks on Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.

He emphasized that "the international community can no longer remain silent in the face of Israeli banditry that has set the entire region ablaze".

He also stated that Islamic and Muslim countries must do much more.

- Islamic countries must show the strongest response to oppression in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. As Muslims, we must lead the world in preventing injustice and oppression - he added.

He noted that Turkey has today "become the voice of all oppressed people fighting for freedom, justice, rights, and equality on the global stage".

- We have sent about 30 tons of humanitarian aid to Beirut. We will continue to send aid as long as security conditions permit - Erdogan said.

Finally, he called on the international community and the Islamic world to act for the peace of everyone in the region, including Muslims, Jews, and Christians.
