Epilogue of Operation Lift: 11 kg of explosives, 29 rifles, 34 pistols, 21 hand grenades found...

In the operation „Lift“ carried out by police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) on Monday to break up a group of arms smugglers, they found and temporarily seized 11 kg of various types and purposes of explosives, 29 rifles, 34 pistols, 4,771 pieces of ammunition of various calibers, 21 hand grenades, 4.7 kg of gunpowder, 123 initiator caps for explosives, 40 caps for hunting rifles, one rocket launcher, one grenade, one 100-meter long fuse for igniting explosives, and four fuses for igniting explosives of unknown length, 11 silencers and other items, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Yesterday (21.12.2015), SIPA police officers, in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of Interior of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, carried out an operational action codenamed „Lift“.

In the areas of Sarajevo, Mostar and Bugojno, six persons were deprived of liberty on grounds of suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of organized crime, in connection with the criminal offense of unauthorized trafficking in weapons and military equipment and dual-use products, and premises at six locations were searched. These activities were carried out by orders of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and the Court of BiH. Special support was provided by the Federal Administration of Civil Protection.

After criminal processing in the official premises of SIPA, the persons deprived of liberty were handed over today (22.12.2015) to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for further proceedings, along with a report on the grounds of suspicion regarding the committed criminal offense and the perpetrators.
