Epidemiologist in Neum due to Chinese citizens: No reason for concern

(Patria) - I want to say that there is no reason for great concern due to the arrival of Chinese citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina because the Coordination Body has been activated and we are monitoring the situation, said Goran Čerkez, Assistant Federal Minister of Health, for N1.

Čerkez said that the movements of tourists from Wuhan, China, the city from which the coronavirus epidemic started, have been monitored since this morning.

"At this moment, I have no need for information that a bus has arrived in Neum. We have taken all measures and this morning we were in contact with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia. We received adequate information from them about the movements of Chinese citizens who entered Croatia. First of all, I would like to say that these are citizens who have passed through several European countries. Their arrival in BiH is expected today, and within the scope of this arrival, all measures have been taken for their reception and examination. Of course, an epidemiologist from the Public Health Institute of BiH is present at the Neum border crossing. All measures have been taken and we are treating them according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization," emphasized the Assistant Federal Minister of Health.

He added that the Chinese citizens will spend the night in Neum tonight and will continue their journey in Bosnia and Herzegovina tomorrow.

"I want to say that there is no reason for great concern because the Coordination Body has been activated and we are monitoring the situation. Our epidemiologist has visited both border crossings, Klek and Doljani, where he is currently located. We have also provided protective masks and measures for our colleagues from the border service. The epidemiologist will conduct assessments and if anyone shows symptoms, they will be treated in accordance with all recommendations. We must not forget that the Chinese citizens left the province of Wuhan before it was closed and before the outbreak of the virus," Goran Čerkez noted at the end of his conversation with N1.
