"EPBiH" expects lower export revenues due to falling electricity prices

Despite the dry winter period, "Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine" does not expect major fluctuations in electricity production this year, stated Elvedin Grabovica, Director of EP BiH, for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

According to him, the hydrological situation is not the most favorable, but he says that the favorable hydrological situation last year was not the key reason for the exceptionally good results in 2013.

- We had good results because we managed our energy resources well. Therefore, I expect to achieve planned production this year as well, but I am not sure if that will be possible for revenues. Because the price of electricity on the world market has fallen, and this will be reflected in our revenues – says Grabovica.

As the director of the largest public company in BiH points out, despite this, the business plan will be achieved successfully and efficiently. Last year, exports from BiH increased primarily due to electricity exports, but due to market price movements, the situation could be different this year.

- From this, it can be concluded that the state should also focus on other sectors to increase exports and reduce the foreign trade deficit. But, in any case, EP BiH can count on good results without major fluctuations this year as well – adds Grabovica.
