EMMAUS provided one-month aid for the Stari Grad Soup Kitchen in Sarajevo

The local non-governmental humanitarian organization MFS-EMMAUS has provided one-month aid in groceries for the Stari Grad Soup Kitchen in Sarajevo, which prepares 1,200 meals daily for the most vulnerable categories of the population, reports the Patria agency.

- Aunt Zilha and her 1,200 beneficiaries are people who must not be forgotten and who need our constant support. Emmaus's aid to the Stari Grad Soup Kitchen is worth over 14,000 KM and consists of groceries that Aunt Zilha requested based on the kitchen's monthly needs. Every positive action carries a message, and with this action, we wanted to convey that 'good is returned with better'. That is what motivates us to work and act for all those in need - stated Elmedin Škrebo, project manager at the humanitarian organization MFS-EMMAUS.

This humanitarian organization from Doboj Istok prepares over 2,000 meals daily for more than 700 regular beneficiaries, including 416 beneficiaries at the Emmaus Reception Center "Duje", up to 300 beneficiaries at the Doboj Soup Kitchen, 38 beneficiaries in the boarding accommodation for children from Srebrenica, for children in Day Centers in Zvornik, etc.

- In addition to its regular beneficiaries, MFS-EMMAUS also occasionally helps with the nutrition of beneficiaries in other soup kitchens across Bosnia and Herzegovina. So far, aid has been delivered to the Soup Kitchens in Visoko and Gračanica. The donation to the Stari Grad Soup Kitchen is just a continuation of this way of providing assistance to public soup kitchens. Given the constant increase in the number of beneficiaries of these soup kitchens, we hope to be able to help more, which will largely depend on donations from good people who support the activities and work of MFS-EMMAUS - said Škrebo.

MFS-EMMAUS is a local, non-governmental humanitarian organization founded in 1999 with the aim of providing assistance to all vulnerable categories of the population in need, and it has offices in Doboj Istok, Sarajevo, and Srebrenica. It is one of the largest humanitarian and non-governmental organizations not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina but also beyond, with 220 employees and 50 active volunteers. MFS – EMMAUS is described as the last place of hope and refuge. Some of the projects implemented by MFS-EMMAUS include the reception center "Duje" in Doboj Istok since 2004, which houses 404 beneficiaries with various socio-medical pathologies, then monthly financing for 1040 children without one or both parents – orphans throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, scholarships for 547 children in Burkina Faso, boarding accommodation for children from Srebrenica in Potočari, day centers for children and youth in Srebrenica – Potočari and Zvornik. MFS – EMMAUS manages projects for sustainable return, assists victims of human trafficking and illegal migration, and participates in the project to prevent child abuse through information and communication technologies.
