Emir Hadžihafizbegović wins award for best role at festival in Florence

FLORENCE, (Patria) - At this year's Balkan Florence Express Film Festival dedicated to Balkan cinematography, held in Florence, Elmir Jukić's film "Žaba" was part of the competition program.

Actor Emir Hadžihafizbegović received a special mention and the Grand Prix award for best role at the festival for his performance as Zeko.

The film "Žaba" was made based on the drama play of the same name, which has been playing on the main stage of Kamerni Teatar 55 for ten years.

"Žaba" is a story about all of us, people of today, in an era of misunderstanding and loneliness, and the search for love and meaning. The film diagnoses the times we live in with almost surgical precision through characters who are unable to navigate the transitional period and the era of changed values.

The film deals with the problems of today, which are the same or similar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, or Serbia. It is primarily the problem of a lack of communication and the inability to hear others' opinions due to the constant and ruthless struggle with one's inner demons.

The brilliant cast (Mirsad Tuka, Aleksandar Seksan, Moamer Kasumović), led by the most recognized and awarded actor in the Balkans, Emir Hadžihafizbegović, have delivered unforgettable performances both in theatre and film, telling a story about humanity that transcends all borders and frameworks, and which resonates with all of us, wherever we are, and whatever our name.
