Elon Musk announces formation of a new political party in the US: Time for independence from the two-party system

(Patria) - Controversial American billionaire and founder of SpaceX, Elon Musk, is increasingly open about his political ambitions, and with his latest post on the X platform, he suggested the possibility of forming a new political party that would represent an alternative to the current dominance of Democrats and Republicans.

– Independence Day is the perfect time to ask yourself – do you want independence from the two-party (some would say one-party) system! Should we form an American Party? – Musk stated in a post on July 4th, on the occasion of US Independence Day.

Musk, who previously had a period of close cooperation with Donald Trump's administration, has become a sharp critic of the current political order in the US. After leaving the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE), he has increasingly promoted alternative political models and ideas.

– One way to achieve this would be to focus on two or three seats in the Senate and eight to ten districts in the House of Representatives. Due to very thin legislative majorities, this would be enough for decisive influence in the passing of important laws – Musk stated.

During previous election cycles, the billionaire openly supported Donald Trump, and analysts assess that his enormous influence on social media was one of the factors that contributed to the growth of support for the former president among certain voter groups.

It remains to be seen whether Musk will actually materialize his announcement and proceed with founding an "American Party," but it is already clear that his political engagement is taking on increasingly serious contours.
