MOSTAR, (Patria) - Mostar Mayor Mario Kordić stated in the City Council that the budget "hole" due to falling revenues will amount to about five million KM. Kordić stated that the city authorities plan to "patch up" this hole by collecting legally binding court rulings in lawsuits against electric utility companies.
This concerns an amount of 7.6 million KM plus default interest of five million KM, owed by Elektroprivreda BiH based on a court ruling, and they are also counting on a lawsuit against "Elektroprivreda HZHB" which amounts to 10 million KM and for which the court proceedings have not yet concluded.
The lawsuits against the two electric utility companies relate, Kordić said, to the failure to fulfill obligations and taxes for submerged city land. Furthermore, the City Administration is also counting on a share from the "Podveležje Wind Farm", but they do not have precise information at the moment on how much money they will receive from this project.
The City Council did not adopt the Draft Budget of Mostar for this year yesterday, and the mayor believes that all necessary materials will be prepared by March 12, with public discussions concluding by March 25.
During the session, the need to fill the management structures in public companies, where numerous problems have accumulated, as soon as possible was emphasized. Mayor Kordić believes that there is a positive energy present in the City Council, necessary for Mostar to return to where it belongs.
