Elektroprivreda: Reductions in electricity supply to customers increasingly likely

(Patria) - Due to current developments concerning EPBiH Concern mines and uncertain coal supply from the "Kreka" Mine, further production of electrical and thermal energy in the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant is questionable, with reductions in supply to customers becoming increasingly likely.

Current coal mixture reserves for the operation of the Block 4 heating plant are sufficient for two days of operation. In order to ensure thermal energy for heating the cities of Tuzla and Lukavac during the uncertain coal supply situation, the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant is forced to suspend the operation of Block 4 tonight at 10 PM. As a replacement capacity for heating Tuzla and Lukavac, Block 3 with one boiler will be put into operation at 6 PM.

In the coming week, for which a cooling is forecast, Block 3 will be in operation with both boilers. The necessary coal for the operation of the Block with both boilers, in the amount of 2,500 tons per day, can be secured from the Banovići and Stanari mines.

During the specified period, the production of electrical energy and technological steam for industry will be carried out only on Block 6, whose operation is difficult. Coal reserves for this Block have been depleted, and operation is based on flow-through reception, which means that all delivered quantities of coal are immediately transported to the production process. Due to all of the above, reductions in the supply of electricity and thermal energy, as well as technological steam, to customers are certain.

Due to the difficult operation at the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant, all three blocks of the Kakanj Thermal Power Plant are in operation. Coal reserves in the depots are sufficient for the operation of the plant for the next 15 days.
